A Party 32 Years In The Making.

Okay but who are we kidding? It's just a night of excessive gaming with a bunch of my pals. July 6th is well on it's way, and I felt the need to let you all know how the survey went, and how you can prepare yourself and your computer for this momentous occasion.

About That Survey

The results below speak for themselves. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was the top pick, with all of the Battlefield games competing for the next spot. Battlefield 1 takes the cake, and to those of you who don't own these games, read on, because there's good news for you.

Beautiful Data

So What's The Schedule Look Like?

The "official" party lasts two hours. For the first hour, we'll be playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In the second hour, we'll be playing Battlefield 1. I'll have dedicated servers running for both. After the formal party ends (aka the third hour) we'll be playing Grand Theft Auto V in a big private lobby. There are a bunch of races and missions that allow for up to 30 players, and I'd love to see us all goofin' in Los Santos. After that, it's up in the air. Whatever we feel like playing.

Gettin' Yourself Prepared

You will want to make sure you have these games preloaded prior to the event. Battlefield 1 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are a combined ~90GB. If you're going to be staying later, GTAV adds another 75GB to that. That's a lotta jigglebytes.

But I Don't Own These Games!

Alright, alright, ya bum. I'm here to help. I want everyone who was invited to be present and able to play, regardless of their financial situation. Fortunately for all of us, there are some seriously frugal options available. And if those still break the bank, please contact me directly. I want you there, and I will make that happen.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

This game is typically $14.99, and many of you already own it. But if you don't, you're in luck. There's a Steam Summer Sale that starts this Thursday (June 21st) and the price could drop to as low as $7.49.

Battlefield 1

You've got a lot of options here. First of all, Origin is having an E3 sale (ends Thursday, June 21, 9PM PDT), and you can pick up the base game for $9.99, or $14.99 for Battlefield 1: Revolution if you want all the DLC. It'll ask you which version you want at checkout.

If that's still too rich for your blood, for $4.99 you can sign up for a month of Origin Access. Battlefield 1 is included with Origin Access, and you can cancel your subscription before it renews.

Still too expensive? Try free. Origin allows you to 'Try it First' which gives you 10 hours of access to the multiplayer. Hop over to the store page and click the 'Try it First' button. This will allow you to install the trial version of Battlefield 1. Just make sure you don't play any more than 9 hours of the game before the party.

Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar wants your money. This makes it especially difficult to find this game at a reasonable price. You could wait until the Steam Summer Sale and see if the price comes down a bit, or you can snag it on CDKeys.com for ~$20. Your options here don't get much better than that. If you do plan to join us, and you haven't played before, you need to load up the game and complete the prologue of the story mode before you can make an online character. Also, if when you start playing online it prompts you to complete a tutorial, and there is an option to pass, please do. If you don't, you'll have to complete a series of missions that ease you into how the online play works, and it can take around an hour or more to complete.

You've Reached The End

I'm excited to play with all of you, and hope we can all have a good time. Please remember to preload all of these games ahead of time, so you can play with us at the scheduled times. I appreciate you all very much and am so grateful that the internet and games have given us the opportunity to meet and be friends. I'll see you at the party!
